Method
- In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, parmesan, and salt to create a compound butter.
- Lay the 4 slices of bread flat and generously spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over one side of each slice.
- Heat a heavy skillet over medium-low heat. Place two slices of bread in the pan, butter-side down.
- Immediately layer the mozzarella, cheddar, and provolone evenly over the unbuttered sides of the bread in the pan.
- Top with the remaining two slices of bread, ensuring the garlic-buttered side is facing outward (up).
- Cook slowly for 4-6 minutes until the bottom crust is golden-brown and crispy.
- Carefully flip each sandwich and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side until the cheese is completely melted.
- Remove from the pan, let rest for 2 minutes on a cutting board, then slice diagonally and serve immediately.
Notes
Always shred cheese from a block for the best melt. Pre-shredded cheese contains anti-caking agents that ruin the texture.
